Lilly, my sweet grandmother. As a kid, cancer was always something I knew as bad, but my view of cancer changed after it took my Lilly. After Lilly graduated into heaven, I was so confused. Lilly never let me know her as sick. I never ever knew her as sick, she was always sweet and healthy. I was so confused when cancer took her from my family and I. Julia (Jules) and Alana (Lana), what would this mean for them, I was too young to understand. Who is their mommy now? The answer is Lilly will always be their mommy. I was so mad that cancer took Lilly away from me, she did not deserve it. I wish, with everything in my heart I could've known her more, I do remember her voice. Her soft scratchy voice. Her voice was like a hug, so comforting and kind. I don't have many memories of Lilly, but the footprint she left with everyone she knew is extremely evident. As I got older I was more knowledgable and got closer to her through stories from her beloved life. Lilly empowered the people around her. Lilly was an inspiration to the women around her. To know her is to love her. Lilly broke societal barriers and became a judge as a woman. This was not very common, but she did what she loved to help her community, regulating her sector of her community. I do not wish cancer on my worst enemy. I used to wonder why, why God would you take this blessing away from us? I began to realize that God just needed his angel to come home. I want to make a change for her. For the young kids that have gotten there childhoods stolen from them, for the family that lost there sweet relatives, the the kids that lost there mom or dad. I want a change for them. I know if Lilly was here she would do the exact same thing. She would fight for the good of our society. Like she always did. I decided I wanted to create a nonprofit at a young age, I wanted to get back at cancer. I want to give people a place to help, a place to become more knowledgable about the horrible thing, so we can make a change for the betterment of our society.
